At TTS autocentre Oldbury we pride ourselves on encouraging safety by offering free checks on your car tyre tread depth.
Having a car tyre that is below the legal limit tread depth is a serious risk to your safety as well as a potential £2500 fine and 3 points on your Driving Licence, per tyre. The legal limit is 1.6mm of tread depth across the central ¾ of the car tyre all the way round.
If you come and see us we can check your tyre tread depth and will change your tyres when necessary at around 2mm.
How to check your tyres;
All major manufacturers have tread wear indicators on the grooves of their car tyres. You will know it is time to change your tyre when
this indicator is flush with the main surface of the tyre.You should check your car tyre pressure every two weeks and before any long trip, to ensure they meet the manufacturer’s recommendations. You will be able to do this using a tyre pressure gauge and your vehicles handbook.
Visually inspect your tyres for cuts, cracks and bulges, as these can lead to slow punctures or blowouts.
